It’s familiar as a warm, cozy blanket. But it’s also as sensual as a lover’s touch. Babies smear it on chubby hands as they delight in its taste. A stolen piece is broken discreetly between friends who “really shouldn’t,” albeit with a twinkle in their eye. What is it? Chocolate.

Chocolate is one of the most coveted treats of our time. Yet, it wears many disguises. The source of chocolate itself - the cacao (Theobroma cacao) bean - is actually far more bitter than the sweet taste we have grown accustomed to. It was highly prized as a source of currency and a sacred gift to ancient Gods before Europeans appropriated it and added such sweetness to it.

It comes as no surprise, then, that chocolate has as many as aromas as it does in taste. It’s a luxury, accessory note in fragrances. Yet, if you use it as a scent prompt (see below), you are able to put your different spins on it and create a fabulous fragrance based on a concept, not just its aroma.
